The Statistical Council:

  • It is an advisory and opinion making body in the field of official statistics.
  • It acts by the President of the Council of Ministers.
  • The Council consists of members appointed by the Prime Minister and representing: state administration bodies - five persons, local authorities in the Joint Commission of Government and Local Authorities - one person, National Bank of Poland - one person, social organisations, professional and economic bodies - three persons, Independent and Self-Governing Trade Union "Solidarity", All-Polish Agreement of the Trade Unions, Confederation of Polish Employers, Polish Confederation of Private Employers, Association of Polish Crafts, other trade union organisations and organisations of employers recognised as representative within the meaning of the Law on Tripartite Commission for Social and Economic Issues and Voivodship Commissions for Social Dialogue - one person from each organisation, and two experts - one in the field of social sciences and one in the field of economic sciences.

  • Tenure of the Council is five years

  • Tasks of the Council include:

    • determination, annually, on the basis of the proposals prepared by the President of Statistics Poland, of a draft statistical surveys program for each following year, and submission of it to the Council of Minister,

    • recommendations on conducting new and periodic surveys concerning a broad scope of statistical observations and methodological and preparatory work related to them, planned for the period of next ten years,

    • evaluation of the implementation of statistical surveys program of official statistics and formulation of opinions on other issues that have a considerable significance to the development of official statistics,

    • providing opinions on the project of budgetary expenses on statistical surveys.

President of Statistics Poland participates in sessions of the Council.
